Drought tolerant and low to no maintenance. USDA Zones:6-9. Mature size:6″-1′(H) X 1′-1.5′(W). Propagate by cuttings. Suitable for ground cover in alpine or rock garden or edge of raised bed planters. Plants could irratate the skin, handle with care.

Cold hardy flowering deciduous tree.  Vertical tree with small canopy.  Easy to grow.  Best growing in full sun to partial shade location in rich, moist but well drained soil.   Fragrant pink flowers mature to pale pink almost white single to semi-double flowered form bloom in early spring before the leaves grow.   Flowers attract bees and butterflies.  USDA Zones:5-9.  Mature size:15′-30′(H) X 4′-8′(W).  Propagate by air-layering or grafting.  Suitable for containers.

This is a grafted tree can not be propagated by seeds.  It is a tall, slender tree with very fragrant pale pink single to semi-double flowered form flowers (pleasant musky/spicy fragrance) in early spring, flowers first before the leaves.  This variety is not common but should be well used in breaking the boring tall wall space that you don’t or can’t build trellis for vines to cover up.

The good thing about this tree is it almost does not produce fruit which less maintenance.  Its fragrant beautiful flower is a show in spring, slender tree with green leaves in summer and then green leaves turn orange yellow in fall which is very nice to provide different season looks!  I only found this variety are selling in one of the big nurseries here in Ontario.

耐寒強健的落葉性開花樹.  天野川櫻是寬幅小瘦高型的柱狀日本櫻花樹.  容易栽種.  最好栽種在全日照到半日照處的肥沃濕潤但排水佳的土壤.  初春開單瓣到半重瓣的淡粉紅色香花,初開為淡粉紅快謝時轉為幾乎白色.  耐寒但耐熱性不算好.  成熟株高15-30呎,寬幅4-8呎. 繁殖以高壓,芽接或嫁接的方式來進行.  適合盆植.

這個品種是由嫁接來進行的所以並不結果結子,也因此低維護.  初春開芳香的粉紅色花或單瓣或半重瓣 (花香怡人類似麝香/沒藥香)先花後葉,夏天綠葉盎然,秋天綠葉轉橘黃,秋色頗美,它的不同季節的風貌更應被廣為利用於造景上!  但安大略省許多處園藝賣場我也僅找到一處有賣.

Normally you can harvest garden peony seeds in late summer to early fall when they are mature and dry.  Or bag the seed pods and wait until late fall just to make sure the seeds maturity.   Even though the easiest way to propagate garden peony is by root division, you still can have fun to hybrid whatever you have!  Like tree peonies, this genus will require different DNA to seed.  Make sure the pollination is done by hand pollination!

1.In a pot with moist potting soil in slightly cool and partial shade to light shade location with slightly soil cover the seeds.  Seeds start to germinate about 2 to 3 months.  To save space, I usually put seeds together in one pot first.

1.取一盆填滿鬆軟濕潤的盆植用土,置於偏涼爽的半日照到散光處,種子需要淺覆土.  種子約2-3個月就會開始發芽.  為節省空間,我通常是將種子同批地放同一盆來孵.

2.Pick the sprouting seeds gently and plant them one in each small pot.  Keep  them in partial shade and not too cool (15C-25C) so they can continue to grow.  Do not dry out.

It is very common vertical evergreen tree grow as hedges/screen.  Very easy to grow.  Winter hardy and drought tolerant once established.   USDA Zones:2-8. Mature size:10′-12′(H) X 4′-8′(W).  Best growing in full sun to partial shade location.  Water well after planting until the roots adopt the ground.   It is needed to water them in dry winter.  Trimming once a while to control height and width can keep them the best shape!
