歐洲水青岡或叫歐洲山毛櫸European Beech

歐洲水青岡或叫歐洲山毛櫸European Beech:

水青岡屬(學名:Fagus)又稱山毛櫸屬,為山毛櫸科的一類植物。廣泛分布在歐亞、與北美洲。為溫帶闊葉落葉喬木林的主要構成樹種之一。

其果實也是一些小型哺乳動物或鳥類的食物.  人類也可去殼後直接食用或榨油煮食用.

常見觀賞品種有:

1.紫葉山毛櫸Purple  Beech (Fagus Sylvatica ‘Purpurea’)

2.三色山毛櫸 Tricolor European Beech (Fagus sylvatica ‘Tricolor’)

3.枝垂紫葉山毛櫸Weeping Purple Beech (Fagus sylvatica “Purpurea Pendula")

其中三色山毛櫸很亮眼真的很吸睛喔!   葉片油亮.  樹型優美大氣.  近幾年來北美慢慢也有種植此類樹種為庭園樹.  它屬於中-大型樹種. 成熟植株可達12米高X 8米寬幅.  算是大型樹種, 為結實硬木, 生長緩慢.

Jane’s Lavender Shortbread Cookies 珍妮的薰衣草餅乾

 

Jane’s Lavender Shortbread Cookies  珍妮的薰衣草餅乾

Ingredients (材料)

2 ½ Cups All-purpose Flour  ( 2杯半 中筋麵粉)

1 ¼ Cup Becel or Butter  (1¼ 杯奶油或無反式脂肪的代奶油)

¼ Cup White Sugar   (¼杯細白砂糖 )

¼ Cup Corn Starch   (¼ 杯玉米澱粉)

1 ½ Tablespoons Dried Lavender Flowers or 2 Tablespoons Fresh Lavender Flowers

 (1 ½大匙乾燥的薰衣草花或新鮮的2大匙)

¼ Teaspoons of Salt (¼小匙鹽)

Small amount of White Sugar to sprinkle on top of cookies

(少許細砂糖烤好後趁熱灑上餅乾用)

 

Method: (步驟)

1. Preheat oven at 350 degree F.

1. 烤箱預熱華氏350.

2. Mix all ingredients well together in a large bowl.

2. 取一大碗將所有材料混合均勻成麵團.

3. Use a long plastic wrap to place down on the table and pour the dough on it.

3. 取長一些的塑膠保鮮膜置於桌上, 把麵團放在塑膠保鮮膜上.

4. Cover the plastic warp on the dough as well and roll the dough flat evenly thickness with pin.

4. 塑膠保鮮膜上包起來後,用擀麵棍擀成均勻厚度.

5. Unveil the top of plastic warp and use desired cookie cutter to cut the shape, place the cut cookies on the baking sheet to bake.

5. 打開保鮮膜後用你喜歡的餅乾模型切割成形, 放在烤盤上備烤.

6. Bake about 8-10 minutes or until the bottom of cookies turn light brown.  Do not over bake.

6. 烤約8-10分鐘, 或餅底稍黃即可 ,不要烤過頭.

7. Turn off the heat.   Sprinkle some sugar on top of cookies when they are still hot.

7. 關火烤好餅乾後趁熱灑上一層細砂糖.

8. Let them sit inside the oven few more minutes to get firmer.  Cool them and enjoy them!

8.  烤好後置於烤箱, 用餘溫續烘幾分鐘會較硬放冷後享用.

Ingredients (材料)

2 ½ Cups All-purpose Flour  ( 2杯半 中筋麵粉)

1 Cup Becel or Butter  (1杯奶油或無反式脂肪的代奶油)

¼ Cup White Sugar   (¼杯細白砂糖 )

¼ Cup Corn Starch   (¼ 杯玉米澱粉)

2 Tablespoons Rose Water   (2大匙玫瑰水)

2 Tablespoons Honey   (2大匙蜂蜜)

1 ½ Tablespoons of Rose Petals (Oven Low heat Dried and Crashed )

(1 ½ 大匙烤箱低溫烘乾揉碎的玫瑰粉)

Small amount of White Sugar to sprinkle on top of cookies

(少許細砂糖烤好後趁熱灑上餅乾用)

 

Method: (步驟)

1. Hand pick ready to bloom red roses petals only (about a handful each recipe, you can bake more and then store then in a vacuum sealed container), rinse and dry.

1. 挑將開放的新鮮玫瑰,拔取花瓣部份,沖洗,晾乾 (一次約用1把新鮮花瓣 ) 你可以一次做多些存放在密封瓶中備用.

2. Lay a layer of rose petals on the baking sheet, bake them at 200 degree F. until crispy but not burnt.  It is going to take some time to wilt and then crispy. 

2. 烤盤上放一層花瓣, 以低溫來烘焙烤乾.

3. Cool them and crash them into small powder like pieces.

3.烤好後放涼, 揉碎成粉或非常小塊.

我來介紹一下這種非常具有經濟價值的樹:

1.食用價值:樹的嫩莖葉及內層樹皮可食用,花可泡茶飲用

2.藥用價值:很久以來歐洲人及北美原住民就有悠久的歷史使用椴樹於藥用.  椴樹蜜可用藥用於治療止咳,樹枝,花及樹皮萃取物可用來消炎消腫,淨化血液,促進食慾,鎮靜助眠…

3.木材價值:有的品種是軟木有的是屬於硬木.  生長快而壽命長有研究顯示可能可達到1000年.

4.觀賞價值:因生長快,遮蔭度非常高.  花香濃郁受人喜愛而且樹型優美.  屬於中-大型樹木.  在北美為落葉喬木. 可生長至30米高12米寬.

北美常見的椴樹為小葉椴樹 (Tilia cordata)美洲椴 (Tilia americana).

抗感冒好喝的薑片蜂蜜檸檬熱茶G. H. L. (Ginger, Honey, Lemon)

GHL (Ginger-Honey-Lemon) Drink 

Ingredients
– Ginger (3 “fingers" makes 2 cups – twice if reused)
– Honey (to taste)
– Lemon (1)

Directions
– start to boil water
– peel (using a spoon) and slice ginger then drop into boiling water
– while boiling, use peeler to make lemon zest (use the entire lemon), drop into the boiling water
– boil for about 3 minutes then let sit
– add honey to taste
– cut the lemon in half and squeeze in at the end

2人份材料:

薑片(去皮)約6-8片  Ginger peeled, 6-8 Slices

 蜂蜜(加到有甜味的量) Honey to Sweeten

 黃檸檬1個  1 Lemon

1馬克杯的冷水a mug of cold water

 馬克杯裝冷開水8分滿  1 Mug of Cold  Water about 80% Full

  1. 取一小鍋倒入一馬克杯的冷水和薑片一起煮  Use one small pot fill with a mug of cold water and ginger slices, bring it to boil.
  2. 檸檬取皮(只取黃色部分白色部份不要)+榨汁 Peel lemon with a peeler, (Remove the white part)+ squeeze out the juice .
  3. 檸檬皮放入小鍋和水+薑片一起煮 Adding lemon peel into the boiling pot to cook shortly.
  4. 煮沸後倒入冷水再加入蜂蜜使有甜味適口 Adding  honey to sweeten.
  5. 攪拌均勻後倒入榨出的檸檬汁 Mix it and adding lemon juice.
  6. 稍攪拌一下就可以舀出盛入馬克杯一人一杯趁熱喝. Mix againe pour into mugs for 2.  Enjoy it when i t is still warm.
