This rare, fragrant wild ginger flowers somewhat resemble orchid, even its rhizomes smells like violets!  Tropical perennial.  Native in south-eastern regions of southern Africa.  I was surprise how small these bulbs are and wondering how long will take them to flower…  The bulbs are firm and fragrant at least — signs of vitality!  🙂  Medicinal herb.  Mauve flowers with yellow and white spot in the center in summer.  Best growing in partial shade to light shade location in moist soil.  Prefer humid warm climate.  Easy to grow.  USDA Zones:9-11. Plant will dormant in winter so watering should be reduced. Mature size:1′(H) X 1′(W).  Propagate by seeds, bulb/tuber/rhizome, division.  Suitable for container planting.

這種稀有,芳香的原生薑的花朵很類似蘭花的花形,它的塊莖聞起來像是紫羅蘭混合著少許薑香!  熱帶多年生.  原生於南非的東南部地區.  我買來時它的球是出乎意外的小,比彈珠大些而已,所以也不知要種到多大才能開花…  至少球是紮實有香味–充滿生機的跡象!  🙂  它是藥草.  夏開有香味的淡紫色花,花心為黃色帶有白色.  以半日照到散光處用溼潤的土壤種植.  容易栽種.  耐熱不耐寒.  冬天會休眠要減少給水.  成熟株高1呎,寬幅亦同.  繁殖以種子,球根/塊根/地下莖或分株來進行.  適合室內盆植.

Some kitchen scraps are good planting materials! 廚餘回收種植
Before spring, we can start to grow some vegetable seeding indoors. Actually you can use a short cut. Here are some things I do that you might like.
Green Onion and Spinach — leave the root part a bit longer (5-7cm) for planting, stick them into soil, water and grow.
Beet Root — before you peel them, leave the beet top about 1.5-2cm, place the cut part on top of the soil, water and grow. Beet green tastes like spinach.
Sprouting onion, garlic, ginger, yam and potato — just plant them in soil outside when the weather is warm enough.
Rotting strawberry, blue berry, tomato, pepper — fruit is not good for eating, but their seeds are still good for planting.
Yam stems — if you eat the yam leaves, you can save the rough chewy stems for planting, simply plant the stems in the soil, water and grow.
All these examples will save you some growing time compared with growing from seeds. You will harvest a lot faster than you can imagine.
The most important thing is that you will have less kitchen waste. The remaining kitchen scraps can be composted to feed your garden.

GHL (Ginger-Honey-Lemon) Drink 

– Ginger (3 “fingers" makes 2 cups – twice if reused)
– Honey (to taste)
– Lemon (1)

– start to boil water
– peel (using a spoon) and slice ginger then drop into boiling water
– while boiling, use peeler to make lemon zest (use the entire lemon), drop into the boiling water
– boil for about 3 minutes then let sit
– add honey to taste
– cut the lemon in half and squeeze in at the end

薑片(去皮)約6-8片  Ginger peeled, 6-8 Slices

 蜂蜜(加到有甜味的量) Honey to Sweeten

 黃檸檬1個  1 Lemon

1馬克杯的冷水a mug of cold water

 馬克杯裝冷開水8分滿  1 Mug of Cold  Water about 80% Full

  1. 取一小鍋倒入一馬克杯的冷水和薑片一起煮  Use one small pot fill with a mug of cold water and ginger slices, bring it to boil.
  2. 檸檬取皮(只取黃色部分白色部份不要)+榨汁 Peel lemon with a peeler, (Remove the white part)+ squeeze out the juice .
  3. 檸檬皮放入小鍋和水+薑片一起煮 Adding lemon peel into the boiling pot to cook shortly.
  4. 煮沸後倒入冷水再加入蜂蜜使有甜味適口 Adding  honey to sweeten.
  5. 攪拌均勻後倒入榨出的檸檬汁 Mix it and adding lemon juice.
  6. 稍攪拌一下就可以舀出盛入馬克杯一人一杯趁熱喝. Mix againe pour into mugs for 2.  Enjoy it when i t is still warm.
