It also has other common names: small cranberry, bog cranberry, swamp cranberry. It is evergreen, low broadleaf shrub. Very hardy and easy to grow. Native in northern hemisphere. European cranberry prefers full sun to partail shade location in acidic moist soil. Small pink flowers in spring and fruit ripe in fall. Mature size: 6″(H) X 2′(W). USDA Zones:3-10. (As I know, some gardeners tried in zone 11 and they are able to grow under shade but not able to fruit.) Easy to be propagated by seeds, cuttings, layering or dividing the plant clump.

1.Use fresh seeds, slightly acidic soil or peat moss. Using a clear container with lid will keep the soil moist for seeds to germinate.
1.使用當季成熟果實取出種子. 土壤用偏酸性易保水的泥炭土. 使用透明有蓋的容器,蓋子悶著可以保濕會早點孵出來. 我是用食物/水果外帶的那種透明容器.
2.Moist the soil or peat moss, if it is too saggy, squeeze off the extra water. Sprinkle the seeds on the surface then keep the lid on. Place the container in partial shade warm location. Check and let air flow once a day. If minor molding occurred, let it be. If it is bad, let the container under direct sunlight for half an hour to kill mold then continue the process.
2.先將土壤加水濕潤,太濕可以稍微擠掉水. 灑上種子後不覆土要加蓋悶. 置於溫暖有半日照處靜置. 每隔幾天開封檢查並透氣. 有稍微發黴的話沒有關係可以不用管它. 嚴重的話要開蓋太陽直射半小時後噴濕後繼續悶孵.
3.From day 15, you will see sprouting seeds. Transplant the seedling when they are old enough (around 8 true leaves). After germination, plants grow slowly so be patient!
3.約15天種子就會發芽. 待小小苗出現8片本葉後可分株假植. 保濕是存活的關鍵. 發芽後長很慢所以要有耐心!
