Native to North America and some hybrids.  Beautiful large to medium shade tree for garden.  Flower in late spring and follow with inedible nuts in fall.  Nuts contains toxic saponins and will irritate the skin.  But squirrels and deers consume  them as food.

Red Horse Chestnut Tree (Aesculus x carnea) is a hybrid between A. hippocastanum and A. pavia.   It is more attractive than common kind so it is popular now.  Fast growing tree, best growing in full sun location.   Mature to 35′ in height and 25′ in width.  USDA Zone: 3.  Very hardy and cold tolerant.

Very hardy and easy to grow, native in China.  Tree peony is shrub and garden peony is herbaceous perennial, many people mixed them up.  Garden peony died back to ground and re-emerge in spring.   Tree peony have twigs and under matured buds for next year over winter period.

It has medicinal uses in Chinese medicine.   Most of  tree peony plant in market are cultivated plants.   Some are grafted.   Tree peony has 100 years+ life span and garden peony is 50+.  Some varieties are extremely fragrant and with large flowers.   Flowers so huge, luxury look and fragrant and the epidermis of its roots is used in traditional Chinese medicine so Chinese call it king of flowers and use tree peony flowers to represent or imply  wealth.
