Winter project and experiment 冬天孵種子與實驗

It is winter gardening time! 🙂 After snow days, outdoor gardening is done for the year, it is winter indoor growing season.
又是冬天室內孵種的時節了! 🙂 外面沒得種,只好改為戶內玩.

Experiments: 實驗如下:
1. Flowering raspberry: propagate from cuttings. From the information I got that from cutting is not option but I think it should be doable because it is rose family. It has been over a week the shoots on the cuttings remain green so far!

2.Grow tulip tree and fern-leaf beech from green wood cuttings. — Never try these two plants before so I figure why not to give it a try. After 10 days, they are still green and firm.

3.Lotus over winter indoors. — Due to lack of hot summer days for seeds to grow to flower, I am using timer and light to keep them green as long as possible in the basement. — I want to see how they will behave this way and how long will they live? Will they die or dormant until next spring? We will see!
3.荷花室內越冬實驗–由於今年夏天熱的天數不足,使荷花生長遲緩,在室內使用光照維持它們到冬眠,要看它們的冬眠表現.

4.Clematis: Except that Clematis ‘Nelly Moser’ I am growing lots from seeds. I am also try the first time to grow Clematis akoensis Hayata. It is a tender perennial Clematis vine with fragrant flowers. I want to see how cold hardy they are if I can grow them. http://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Clematis_akoensis
4.鐵線蓮: 除了手上許多的’Nelly Moser’在孵種子外,另外要試屏東鐵線蓮的耐寒性. –如果今年能孵的出種子的話,明年就可以試驗了.
5.Brazilian passion flower vine: This year one was growing very well, I would like know if this one can survive over harsh winter here without any protection. Suppose hardy zone 6. In theory it will be alright. — Hopefully it will live!
5.巴西耐寒的西番蓮,說是耐寒在這裡理論上是可以在戶外過冬的. 這株很強健今年開了不少花,要看它不經保護的越冬結果如何.

6. Growing rose from cuttings of long stem rose from store bought bouquet. — In summer time, it is not likely to succeed because the temperature. But now it is cold enough to play with them. The one I am trying is apricot colour with nice fragrance! 🙂 The cuttings are in the pots by the window.
6.取長莖玫瑰花(是花店賣做切花用,有怡人香味的)截取枝條扦插,冬天的扦插率大於夏天的扦插存活率. 盆放地點為室內靠窗有陽光處.
