Many ways of cooking the fruit.  This  tropical tree has very large, glossy, dark green foliage.   A very good shade tree for open area.   Easy to grow in warm climate for food source.   Best growing in full sun location.  Fruit has very high starch content.  After cooked the layers of fruit gives bread or potatoes like texture and flavor, hence the common name.  Ripe fruit smells close to guava fragrance.  Delicious!  Bloom repeatly all year around with green male and female flowers.  USDA Zones:9-11.   Mature size:40′(H) X 15′-25′(W).  Propagate by seeds, air-layering or cuttings.

它的果實為聚生果.   大部份的品種能生產種子,也有的品種是無子的. 料理的方法有好幾種.  這種熱帶樹種有著很大片,油亮深綠的葉片.  很好的造蔭樹.  容易栽種在溫暖氣候區,以經濟作物為目的來種植.  最好栽種在全日照處.  果實含高澱粉.  料理後吃起來的感覺有像麵包或馬鈴薯類. 熟果聞起來很接近番石榴的香味.  很好吃!  一年到頭開綠色的公花及母花.  喜熱不耐寒.  成熟株高40呎,寬幅15-25呎.  繁殖以種子,壓條/高壓或扦插法來進行.

Tropical large perennial.  Also as known as giant banana, although it is not a banana.  This large tropical perennial has good height.  So make sure you have enough space for them to grow.   Easy to grow in full sun to partial location in warm climate. Late spring to mid summer with large white and blue/violet flowers.   Flowers attract insects and birds.  Excellent for cut flower!  USDA Zones:10-11.  Mature size:15′-20′(H) X 4′-6′(W).  Its banana like foliage is excellent to grow indoor in pots.  It is excellent for green house with good height or indoor with sky light.  Propagate by seeds or division.

熱帶大型多年生草花.  又稱為白花天堂鳥和琉璃鳥蕉,雖然和吃的香蕉是不同的但葉片很像蕉類的葉子. 成熟植株的高度不矮,所以種時要注意預留成長的空間. 最好種在溫暖氣候區的全日照到半日照處或非溫暖氣候區的溫室裡..  春末到仲夏開白色的大花,花間帶著點藍紫色. 花吸引蜂蝶及鳥類.  很適合切花!  喜熱不耐寒.  成熟株高15-20呎,寬幅4-6呎.  由於葉如蕉類很大片有著熱帶的感覺所以常被用於室內觀葉的盆栽.  所以若有溫室或天窗/天井也是能種的.  繁殖方式以種子或分株為主.

It is a small tree or large shrub which bares tomato like fruits.  Best growing in full sun to partial shade location.  Mature size:10′-12′(H) X 6′-8′(W).  USDA Zones:10+.  I must admit that I am not crazy about the taste of the fruit.   I actually like tomatoes better.  But it is different.  Easy to grow from seeds, cuttings or layering.  Shallow root require staking for heavy rain or strong wind.   The fruiting time could be all year long which is long.  The life span is around 12 years.
