This beautiful small flowering tree or large shrub is very beautiful and easy to grow in full sun to partial shade location. Late spring pink flowered varieties usually bloom first then white flowered varieties. The four large “petals" are not really flower petals, they are actually bracts. The pom-pom like center are many tiny flowers.

這種美麗開花的小型樹或大型灌木很容易栽種在全日照或半日照處. 春末夏初才開白花,白色的花瓣其實不是花瓣,是萼片,中間那撮小小的團狀看似花心的才是真正的花. 不過也因此有更長的賞花期.

I like the white varieties just because the most of spring flowering trees and shrubs bloom in mid to late spring, when white flowered varieties flowers to summer, I feel I have spring extended! 😉

我喜歡白色的這種,因為它晚開,當春花都開盡了它才登場,感覺就是春天因此而延續了! 1.Its fruit ripe in mid-late fall so you have to collect the fruit, remove the fruit pulp and clean seeds.

Dry seeds, put the seeds in a re-sealable bag and then store in freezer for 1-1.5 months to simulate winter.

1.這白花的成熟的果實是紅色形如小荔枝的果實,內有數個種子. 要去掉皮與果肉渣後取出種子,洗淨乾燥後放在小夾鍊袋於冰箱冷凍庫來保存"過冬"如此種子可以保存數年,要種時才取出.

2.Wake up the seeds by bath seeds in warm water for 2 days. You can use thermal bottle to do this if you have large quantities of seeds to grow. Seeds have quite thick hard shell so it is OK.

2.將種子由冰箱取出後泡溫水2天可叫醒種子. 若孵的種子數量多可以用小保溫壺. 種殼很厚,稍熱的溫水都沒關係.

3.Scoop the seeds and plant in a pot or container. Use moist potting soil or well drained growing medium. I covered the container to keep seeds moist and place in warm place.

3.撈出種子後種在溼苗盆或容器上放在溫暖處,用蓋住保溼保溫方式悶到發芽破殼.

4.Check seeds once every 2 or 3 days. Seeds usually germinate around 30-45 days according to the temperature.

4.每兩到三天檢查種子並打開透氣. 依氣溫不同通常30-45天發芽.

5.Pick up the germinated seed and plant in the individual small pot. Place them in warm, partial shade location. Keep moist.

5.揀出剛發芽破殼的種子個別種在小盆中,置放在半日照溫暖處生長. 注意保溼.

6.Transplant the seedlings to bigger pots or in the ground when they have 8 leaves. Move them to full sun location and apply light fertilizer. From seed to flower is about 4-6 years according to the soil and light exposure. It is very nice gift tree to grow for any garden! 🙂

6.小苗本葉約8片時可以移到較大盆或是地植. 改成全日照可以開始施用肥料. 根據土壤肥沃及日照程度不同,種子種到開花約4-6年. 它是很適合當禮物的庭園小型開花樹種.

最佳孵絲蘭的時間為秋到冬季. 室內盆植或直播於秋末戶外全日照處.

1. Soak fresh seeds for 2 days.

1.取新鮮種子,種子要泡水2天.

2.Use potting soil in a container with lid, moist the soil and lay down the seeds. Keep the lid on. Place the container in warm and sunny location. The key is humid + warm environment.

2.苗盆使用吊盆用土,土壤濕潤後放上種子. 不覆土. 蓋上蓋子悶. 苗盆放在全日照溫暖處. 孵這種子的重點是濕+熱.

3.Check twice a week to let the fresh air in, if mold occurs open the lid under direct sunlight for 2 hours to kill mold.

3.每星期開蓋檢查兩次以透氣. 若有黴菌生長,只要開蓋在直射的陽光下曬2小時就能殺菌了.

4.The seeds should germinate from 8 days to 2 weeks.

4.種子應該在8天到2週左右出芽.

5.When seeds start to spout, either move the seeds to individual small pot or wait for seedlings grow 6-8 leaves than move to ground or to individual pots. Full sun but keep seedlings moist not dry out.

5.種子發芽時可揀出分開用小盆種植或等小苗較大約6-8片葉片時稍強壯時分開種,地植或用盆植分盆種,要注意小苗期的保濕.

I must said these acorns are so cute! And they are future mighty oaks! 🙂

Oak trees are slow growing large trees and have very useful hard wood for furniture, hard wood floor and so on; the seeds, acorns come with different appearances and sizes according to oak species.

Acorns can be food source for human and wild animals. There are many recipes on line you can search if you are curious, such as acorn jelly/tofu. You can easily grow an oak from an acorn in 10-30 days in moist but not saggy soil! Acorns are fabulous material for crafts!

I appreciate oak leaves turning beautiful colour in fall, red, orange, yellow or brown. So beautiful! 🙂

How to grow Wisteria from seed. — So easy, you can grow it even in a jar. This is a reblooming Wisteria seedling. 紫藤種子孵法–非常簡單,玻璃瓶都能拿來種. 這棵是續開型紫藤的實生苗.

1.Get seeds from mature seed pods. Soak seeds in clean water for 3 days. 取得成熟的新鮮種子來種植. 清水浸泡種子3天.

2.Peel seed covers and then continue to use clean water to soak them in a warm and bright place. 剝去種皮後用清水續泡種子,置於溫暖明亮處.

3.Seeds will germinate in 4-7 days. Germination rate is very high. Plant each seed in a 3″ pot with regular soil in partial shade area and keep soil moist until seedlings are one foot high then move seedling to ground or full sun area. 種子會於4-7天發芽. 發芽率很高. 一顆種子種一3吋小盆,長到1呎高後再地植或換盆並從半日照處轉為全日照.

Something you should know about wisteria…有關紫藤的其它事情在你種植前應該知道的…

1.It has long life span — approximately 500 years! 壽命很長–約有500年.

2.They grow and flower best in full sun location but they can still live in full shade areas as well. 雖全日照處開花最多也最佳,但在陰暗處也能存活.

3.They become “vine" if they have any support, and they become a “tree" without support.有依附物則為"藤",無依附物則為"樹".

4.They are very hardy, USDA Zones 3 and almost no pest and diseases target on them. 生命力非常強,很耐寒. 幾乎沒有特別的病蟲害.

5.Seeds contain toxin. 種子有毒含有氰化物,勿食.

6.The vine has extremely strong twining power (clockwise or counter clockwise) and has a bad reputation for damaging roofs or killing the support trees. It is better to train it free standing as a tree or with strong structure in open space. 其藤的扭力非常強大(順時鐘或逆時鐘扭轉) 且因此有破壞房子屋頂和誅滅所依附植物的惡名. 故最好令其無依附物長成樹型或空地上建一結構強度大的棚架供其攀爬生長.

7.The reblooming variety such as Wisteria ‘Blue Moon’ can bloom 3 times a year.續開型品種如’藍月’可一年開3次花.

8.Wisteria is a very good plant for bonsai. 紫藤是很好的盆景用植物.

9.Growing wisteria from seeds to flower normally will take 5-6 years. By using poor soil will speed up the time to 3-4 years. 紫藤從種子種到開花一般至少要5-6年的時間. 若用貧瘠的土壤種植可以加速老化所以能提早到3-4年就能開花.
