Super easy to grow, very hardy flowering vine! Best in full sun to partial shade location. Large amount of small white fragrant flowers from mid summer to frost. Flowers attract bees and butterflies. Flowers are good for cut flower. Its flowers have sweet fragrance similar with vanilla. I notice it is only noticeable when plant blooms large amount of flowers.

It is cold hardy and tolerant heat. USDA Zones:5-9. (But some believes it is 4-10/11.) Mature size:20-30′(H) x 1′(W). Easy to propagate from seeds, layering or cutting. It is tricky because thin stem (some people had done it) but it is possible to graft Clematis vine. Imagine a strong clematis vine with different varieties graft together, it will bloom almost whole year with different color flowers.. 🙂

Suggest Care: Cut back 1/3 in the early winter to promote more new shoots in spring.

超容易栽種,非常強健的蔓藤花卉! 以全日照到半日照處栽種為佳. 仲夏到結霜的這段時間是花期,開大量芳香的小白花,花香要花量夠多才會明顯,香甜的花香像是香草.

耐寒又耐熱. 成熟株高可達20-30呎,寬1呎. 容易以種子,壓條,扦插來繁殖. 雖然因其莖細,難度較高但是有人已做過,證明是可以嫁接鐵線蓮的.–想像一下粗壯的鐵線蓮可以一年到頭開不同顏色和品種的花.. 🙂

植株的維護建議:初冬時由開花處末端剪除三分之一,以刺激來春分枝以達到分化更多會開花的新芽.

So, this is easy but will take long time (months) to germinate but it is worthy.

You will need small re-sealable bags and some clematis seeds which already removed shells. Fill with clean water with seeds inside the re-sealable bags, water doesn’t have to fill full. Keep these bags in a plastic container with lid (because they don’t like light to germinate) and place this container somewhere warm (warmer is good for seeds to germinate). Then wait. Check them once a week.

Once you find seeds sprout, pick them from water bag and place them on top of soil, keep soil moist, now they need light. Place them by window if it is indoor growing condition. Then water them and wait couple months, you will have young plants which are ready to climb, plant them outdoor.

鐵線蓮種子去殼後用夾鍊袋裝好泡清水,置於黑暗溫暖處讓它們發芽. 一週檢查一次. 有發芽的種子就撿出放在盆土土表,半日照處,要保持土壤濕度,種子會自己生長. 等本葉長到4-6片就可以種到戶外全日照處,

隔一陣子還想孵一些別的鐵線蓮呢! Next I want to grow some other kind of clematis from seeds.

可是時間要算好,要春天到時有得種小實生苗. But I have to time it right for the seedlings to grow outdoors in spring.

本來在想要不要續寫十一月花園的,因為零下的低溫已經讓大部份的花草睡覺去也…但是這也更顯得耐寒花期長的花草植物還有顏色更彌足珍貴了.

英國薰衣草,玫瑰花,金銀花,毛地黃,野生直立的風鈴草,塊莖小芝麻,菊花,金盞花,Coreopsis,台灣油點草,鐵線蓮,矮性荷包牡丹,銀蓮花(秋牡丹),大花鴨跖草,多年生高性福祿考,大波斯菊,貓薄荷,天人菊…等加上室內的蟹爪仙人掌也盛開中. 有的雖仍綻放但是花量已經很少,作為參考倒是很容易能和其他月份比較.

不知是我家照顧的好(肥料用的很多!!)或是其他原因,其實我看不到別人家的花園除了秋菊還有花在開的…

十月份花草仍然綻放的種類已經大大減少許多,但是你仍然會發現花期超長的植物真的是從春末開到秋末! 像是金銀花,我的兩種蔓玫,無刺玫瑰花,鐵線蓮,大理花,多年生石竹,Coreopsis,紫錐花,矮性荷包牡丹,毛地黃,天人菊,塊莖小芝麻,風鈴草,貓薄荷,矮性大葉醉魚草,管香蜂草,大花鴨跖草,大波斯菊, 多年生福祿考,金盞花,蔓長春,香堇菜, 矮牽牛…會特別讓人珍愛它們的開花性如此之好–尤其是前一陣子第一次低溫霜降後仍然不減熱情照開!

當然還有當季才新開一個月的台灣油點草, 蕕,銀蓮花,菊花和景天科的秋季花草. 不知道今年新買的花草的開花性如何? 只有來年才會知道了.

In my October garden, there are lot of less flowers still in bloom, but it makes you appreciate those plants with long blooming periods which bloom since late spring, such as: honeysuckle, climbing roses, thornless rose, Dianthus, Dahlia, Clematis, Coreopsis, purple coneflowers, dwarf bleeding heart, foxglove, blanket flower, Lamium, bellflowers, catnip, dwarf butterfly bush, bee balm, Cosmos, garden phlox, Calendula, Periwinkle, viola, petunia…especially after the first frost few days ago.

Of course, also the recent bloomed autumn sedum, toad lily, blue beard, Anemone and mums.
