Columnar Japanese Flowering Cherry (Prunus serrulata ‘Amanogawa’) these young trees are about 8.5′ tall. 柱狀日本櫻’天野川’這些小樹約8.5呎高.

Cold hardy flowering deciduous tree.  Vertical tree with small canopy.  Easy to grow.  Best growing in full sun to partial shade location in rich, moist but well drained soil.   Fragrant pink flowers mature to pale pink almost white single to semi-double flowered form bloom in early spring before the leaves grow.   Flowers attract bees and butterflies.  USDA Zones:5-9.  Mature size:15′-30′(H) X 4′-8′(W).  Propagate by air-layering or grafting.  Suitable for containers.

This is a grafted tree can not be propagated by seeds.  It is a tall, slender tree with very fragrant pale pink single to semi-double flowered form flowers (pleasant musky/spicy fragrance) in early spring, flowers first before the leaves.  This variety is not common but should be well used in breaking the boring tall wall space that you don’t or can’t build trellis for vines to cover up.

The good thing about this tree is it almost does not produce fruit which less maintenance.  Its fragrant beautiful flower is a show in spring, slender tree with green leaves in summer and then green leaves turn orange yellow in fall which is very nice to provide different season looks!  I only found this variety are selling in one of the big nurseries here in Ontario.

耐寒強健的落葉性開花樹.  天野川櫻是寬幅小瘦高型的柱狀日本櫻花樹.  容易栽種.  最好栽種在全日照到半日照處的肥沃濕潤但排水佳的土壤.  初春開單瓣到半重瓣的淡粉紅色香花,初開為淡粉紅快謝時轉為幾乎白色.  耐寒但耐熱性不算好.  成熟株高15-30呎,寬幅4-8呎. 繁殖以高壓,芽接或嫁接的方式來進行.  適合盆植.

這個品種是由嫁接來進行的所以並不結果結子,也因此低維護.  初春開芳香的粉紅色花或單瓣或半重瓣 (花香怡人類似麝香/沒藥香)先花後葉,夏天綠葉盎然,秋天綠葉轉橘黃,秋色頗美,它的不同季節的風貌更應被廣為利用於造景上!  但安大略省許多處園藝賣場我也僅找到一處有賣.
