Tropical small flowering bulb. Perennial. Easy to grow. Best growing in full sun to partial shade location. Small white flowers in winter to early summer. Under side of the flowers with red edging, from the bottom of the bloom looks like candy, hence the name. Flowers attract bees and butterflies. USDA Zones:7-9. Mature size:6″-1′(H) X 9″-1′(W). Propagate by rhisomes, bulbs, corms, cuttings or division. Suitable in containers indoors or alpine garden.

Lovely to see this post, Author of “My Food And Flowers". When I was growing up in South Africa, we would often pick wild oxalis (with yellow flowers and very long, fat stems) to nibble on – the stems, leaves and flowers were delicious!
I grow an oxalis in my kitchen in the UK, which has a burgundy/purplish leaf and pink flowers – I have seen it referred to as “Love Clover", but do not know its botanical name. The flavour is reminiscent of what I loved to nibble on as a child … and the leaves look like butterflies dancing.
